Meet the Boolean Team

Abby is the Senior Lead Link for the Boolean Maths Hub and has been involved in the Maths Hub Programme since the beginning. Abby's ambition is for all children to develop a deep and sustainable understanding of mathematics and to experience belonging, enjoyment and success in the maths classroom. She promotes collaboration between educators in all settings, recognises the impact of professional development and is passionate about working together to securing greater equity through education. Abby is also the Assistant Director of the CLF Institute with responsibility for school improvement across the Cabot Learning Federation.

Jo Cronin became the Lead of the Boolean Maths Hub in September 2025. Since joining the LLME community in 2018, she has taken on a range of roles, including Deputy Maths Hub Lead, Assistant Maths Hub Lead for Primary and Targeted Support in Maths, and Work Group Lead.

Jo has been supporting schools across the South West for many years—first as a consultant for the local authority, and later as a freelance adviser. She is passionate about helping teachers grow in confidence with maths and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to enjoy and succeed in the subject.

After studying for a degree in Maths and German at Aston University Rachel moved back to Bristol to do her Maths PGCE and in 2004 qualified as a teacher. She have worked within the CLF since it was formed, first at Bristol Brunel Academy and then moving into the Post 16 provision. In her time at BBA she taught a variety of Post 16 Maths and eventually moved to join CLF post 16 in 2018. She has worked alongside others in the CLF to improve the provision of post 16 Maths and has seen the numbers of student studying both A level Maths and Further Maths and Core Maths increasing over the years. She is also involved in training teachers through the SCITT programme at the CLF institute and has worked with the Maths Hub in a variety of ways over several years. She works as an associate for the AMSP and has run local network meetings and Maths Feasts across Bristol and Bath. She is passionate about seeing as many students as possibly studying Maths Post 16 and has a particular focus on inspiring young women to study Maths and increasing the uptake of Core Maths.

Having worked in the education sector for 16 years, Rachel has joined the Boolean Maths Hub as an Assistant Maths Hub Lead.

Ieuan Pearse studied Mathematics with Economics at Exeter University and became a maths teacher in 2008. He has spent most of his teaching career at Bristol Cathedral Choir School, helping the Maths Department receive a departmental Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ rating in 2012. In his time at Bristol Cathedral Choir School, Ieuan has led on developing maths across the curriculum, presented 100s of GCSE CPD and A-Level revision online videos for Pearson and Edexcel and has spent 5 years as a Staff Governor. Ieuan leads the Y13 provision at Bristol Cathedral Choir School including entry exams such as STEP and MAT and embedding technology into Post-16 learning. Ieuan joined the Boolean Maths Hub team as the Level 3 Lead in 2016.

Jemima is maths and KS2 lead at St Peter's primary in Portishead and joined the Boolean Maths Hub Team as an Assistant Maths Hub Lead in September 2025. She has experience in teaching across the primary age range and began training as a Teaching for Mastery Specialist in 2017 after gaining a PGCert in Primary Mathematics. In 2018-19, Jemima was part of the DfE Shanghai exchange, including leading showcases for the two teachers that were hosted by St Peter's. She is also experienced in school improvement work as an SLE and within her MAT. Jemima has a passion for providing teaching staff with professional development that is rooted in real-life classroom practice, giving them the confidence, knowledge and enthusiasm to make a lasting difference to children's learning.

Amy became a primary school teacher in 2012, following experiences teaching abroad and working in the HE sector. She is a Cohort 5 Primary Mastery Specialist, and led maths at a Bristol primary school for seven years before becoming a Assistant Maths Hub Lead in September 2025. Amy enjoys working with teachers and school leaders to improve outcomes for children, school systems and staff subject knowledge. Amy is passionate about developing networks to promote collaboration between educators and working equitably to ensure that maths learning is accessible to all children.

Linda’s role in the Maths Hub brings together her previous administrative background, in a large central Bristol secondary academy, and her vast experience working with both primary and secondary phase governance across the region. Linda has a genuine interest in the provision of excellent teaching, to ensure Maths is an accessible and an enjoyable experience for everyone.

Paula has recently joined Cabot Learning Federation Institute after working in various administrative roles in Education over the past 13 years. She is excited to provide valuable administrative support to the Maths Hub to develop and spread excellent practice, for the benefit of all pupils and students.

Ali is a key member of the Cabot Learning Federation Institute administrative team. She works with the Maths Hub using her vast experience in administration and finance to help the team achieve their objectives to raise standards of Maths education across the hub region.

Having graduated with an MSc from the University of the West of England, Poornima has recently joined the Cabot Learning Federation Institute Administration team. She is eager to support the Maths Hub, with over 7 years of her previous experience in Finance and Administration.
