Prior to joining the CLF, Mike led the primary teaching school across Bristol and before that was a Headteacher of a large and challenging inner city primary, moving the school from special measures to an Ofsted judgement of ‘Good’. Mike has a long association and interest in mathematics, particularly in Primary and the Early Years. He was a leading maths teacher for the original primary mathematics strategy and subsequently a local authority maths consultant and subject adviser in both Cornwall and in Bristol. He was involved in supporting the implementation of mastery at the inception of the maths hub, visiting Shanghai in 2014 and welcoming Chinese teachers to his school at that time. He has since been part of the hub’s strategic board and in his role as Deputy Director of the CLF Institute supports the hub as their Senior Lead Link.
